Huron County is located in north central Ohio, and is bordered by Erie County to the north, Lorain County to the east, Richland, Ashland, and Crawford Counties to the south, and Sandusky County to the west. It is named after the Huron Native American tribe. The county seat is Norwalk. According to the 2020 Census, the county has a population of 58,565 people. The economy of Huron County is primarily agricultural, with corn, wheat, and soybeans being the major crops and is also home to several small manufacturing companies. Huron County is known for its beautiful countryside, and is a popular destination for outdoor recreational activities, such as hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. The county is also home to a number of interesting historical sites and cultural attractions, including the Huron County History Center and the Firelands Symphony Orchestra.
