Meigs County is a county in southeastern Ohio, named after Return J. Meigs Jr., who was the fourth governor of Ohio. According to the 2020 census, the county had a population of 22,210 people, with Pomeroy as the county seat and Middleport as the largest village. Meigs County is located in the Appalachian Plateau region, with a scenic landscape and a rich coal mining history. Some of the places of interest in Meigs County include the Buffington Island State Memorial, the Pomeroy Historic District, and the Meigs County Museum. The largest employers in Meigs County are mainly in the health care, education, and retail sectors, such as Holzer Health System, Meigs Local School District, and Walmart.
