What are OhioBiz Text Ads?

The OhioBiz Text Ads program is a quick and simple way to purchase relatively inexpensive, highly Ohio-targeted advertising, regardless of your budget. OhioBiz Text Ads are displayed along with search results on OhioBiz, as well as in selected OhioBiz directory categories. Over 100,000 unique visitors per month (and growing monthly), your text ad can reach a truly targeted, local, Ohio audience. OhioBiz is Ohio's largest search directory with currently over 57,000 business, organization, community, and education-related sites.

Since the OhioBiz Search directory began service in March 2001, many people have come to rely on OhioBiz as an excellent source of finding Ohio businesses and organizations. OhioBiz is not a general search directory, but one with a definite focus - allowing visitors to find Ohio entities quickly! Many people like to do business locally and OhioBiz gives them a great platform to find the service and products they are looking for!

When you create an OhioBiz Text Ad, you choose a combination of relevant keywords / keyword phrases for which your ad will appear and categories within the OhioBiz category directory. You only pay a falt semi-annual or annual fee for an unlimited number of click-throughs and impressions so you can easily budget for targeted Ohio, regional, and local online traffic to your web site.

Your ad(s) will start running within hours after you submit your ad text content and payment information. After we approve your ad, you can easily keep track of your ad performance using the report in your online account Control Center. You will receive via email a user ID and password to access your OhioBiz ad's number of impressions and click-throughs.

Each account holder can modify the content of their text ad and keyword / keyword phrase targets up to twice monthly.

How do I get started?

There are five easy steps involved in creating and activating a OhioBiz Text Ad account.

  • Step 1: Create your ad by entering a headline, two lines of description, and a URL.
    Create your own ad on the fly.
     

  • Step 2: Contact Information
    Please Include your name, phone number and email address.
     

  • Step 3: Select up to six (6) relevant keywords or keyword phrases.
    Please select your relevant keywords / keyword phrases for the search results page. Include only one (1) keyword / keyword phrase per line (in the box). Selected keywords and phrases are subject to OhioBiz approval.
     

  • Step 4: Select up to three (3) relevant OhioBiz directory categories.
    Please select your three most relevant categories that applies to the site you are promoting. Selected categories are subject to OhioBiz approval. SUBMIT THE AD CONTENT AND CONTACT INFORMATION.
     

  • Step 5: Payment Options
    Please select the OhioBiz Text Ad program: the appropriate size of your company or organization and either semi-annual or annual payment and then the appropriate payment method (PayPal) . You may pay online with your credit card via Paypal's secured payment option or you may send a check or money order via snail mail to OhioBiz. Your ad will be activated once payment has been received.

Is there a minimum required click-through rate (CTR)?

No. There is no required minimum click-through rate on OhioBiz.

How are ads ranked on OhioBiz?

Your ads are not ranked on OhioBiz although they are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis with regard to the maximum number of sponsored text ads appearing in a given OhioBiz category or subcategory and a given keyword/keyword phrase. The current maximum number of simultaneously ads appearing in a given category or attached to a keyword /keyword phrase is five (5). All ads that are displayed simultaneously will be rotated randomly in a vertical manner. If a category or keyword/keyword phrase has more than five (5) attached simultaneously, then the next or sixth (6th) party will have to wait until a slot becomes available.

When does my ad start running?

Once you've completed the account creation process (text ad creation, submission of text ad content and payment - Click here), we will review the content and within 24 hours, activate your text ad. OhioBiz must receive your payment prior to activating your text ad (credit card via Paypal  - online, OR send check or money order via snail mail). OhioBiz will send you an email which will include a user ID, password, and URL to access your ad statistics.

How much text can I have in my ad?

Ads can contain 25 characters for the title, 70 characters for the ad text description (up to 35 on the 1st line and 35 on the second line), and 35 characters for a display URL. On OhioBiz, this is displayed on four lines: a title, two lines of ad text description, and a URL line.

If the text line contains any wide characters (for example: capital letters, lower case 'm' and 'w', and certain punctuation marks such as '@', '&' and '%'), fewer characters may fit on the line.

Can I put images in my ads?

In order to maintain a clutter-free environment for our users and advertisers, OhioBiz does not allow images of any kind.

How often can I update my ad(s)?

You may update the text ad title, description, and target keywords/keyword phrases a maximum of twice per calendar month. OhioBiz monitors the number of individual update requests and reserves the right to decline any content updates/modifications. Just re-submit the form with the modifications at http://www.ohiobiz.com/ohiobizad.htm and we will modify the text ad for you as soon as possible.

Can I create multiple ads for a set of keywords?

You can create as many ads as you like but keywords/keyword phrases and relevant categories will need to be unique between multiple text ads. OhioBiz automatically keeps track of the number of click-throughs and impressions for each of your ads; you can determine which ads perform best by logging in to your account and viewing your campaign reports.

What does it cost and how do I pay?

In the OhioBiz Text Ad program, there are currently 2 programs: semi-annual (6 months), and annual (12 months). Also, the cost of the ad varies based upon the size of the company. The latest pricing and "Specials" are located at http://www.ohiobiz.com/payment.html.

Based on your advertising goals and budget, you choose which program is best suited for you. Obviously, the best deal (cost per month) is the annual package.

You may make a secured online payment by credit card via Paypal  or you can send a company/personal check or money order directly to OhioBiz. Text Ads will be activated immediately pending payment and proper text content adherence according to the stated Editorial Guidelines.

What if I have billing questions or concerns?

We understand that online transactions require trust. In particular, we take billing and credit card security very seriously. If you have refund or credit requests or concerns about your account charges, whether they're related to security issues or not, please let us know. However, because email is not a secure means of communication, please do not email us your credit card number or account password. We should be able to resolve the issue without this information. Please do provide us with your account's email address and as much other information as possible regarding the matter. We will review your email and work to reach a solution as quickly as possible.

If you contact us with a billing concern, we may temporarily suspend your ads so you don't accrue further charges. We may also suspend your ads if we have trouble processing charges for your account.

In order to reactivate the account, we ask that you please re-submit your credit card number, or enter another credit card number to process your charge. Once we've processed your payment, you can re-enable your ads.

What if I decide to cancel my campaign?

Our goal is to provide you with the most effective advertising available, so before canceling, we ask that you let us work with you to meet your advertising goals. You may cancel within a 72-hour window from initially placing your order. However, if you still wish to cancel during this time, we encourage you to let us know why OhioBiz Text Ads won't work for you. We will carefully review your suggestions. Our goal is to constantly improve the user interface and the program itself. We hope you'll try OhioBiz Text Ads again in the future when it may better suit your needs.

What kind of reports will I get?

OhioBiz provides online reporting for the OhioBiz Text Ads program. We do not currently mail invoices or reports, but you can access your personal reports online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to see the cumulative number of times your ads were shown (impressions or exposures) and how many times users clicked on your ads (clicks). This reporting is available for each of your ads. After you submit your payment and text content, OhioBiz will email you your user ID, password, and web address to access this information.

We make every effort to provide accurate reports; therefore, no measurements other than those maintained by OhioBiz shall be accepted for reporting or payment purposes. If the reports you receive from OhioBiz do not coincide with your own, there are a number of possible explanations.

Will my individually identifiable information be shared with any party other than OhioBiz?

No. The information you provide us with will only be used by OhioBiz, in an effort to serve you better. We will not sell your personal information. Furthermore, we will not share your personal information, unless required to resolve a charge dispute or by legal process. Please also see our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

Are there guidelines for my ad content?

We review all of our ads to ensure that they meet OhioBiz's advertising standards. These standards can be found in our Terms and Conditions and in the OhioBiz Text Ads Editorial Guidelines. OhioBiz strongly believes in the importance of relevant, high-quality advertising, which benefits both our advertisers and OhioBiz users. By creating clear, well-targeted OhioBiz Text Ads, you'll reach your potential customers more effectively and help ensure a positive user experience that will build users' confidence in OhioBiz Text Ads. The result will be higher traffic to your site, increasing the potential return on your ad investment.

What if my ads don't meet the guidelines?

We created the Editorial Guidelines to help improve your ad campaigns as well as the OhioBiz user experience. If we see that your ads don't follow these guidelines, we will let you know and offer suggestions on how to improve your ads prior to inclusion into the system.

We will review your ads and can help you optimize your campaigns. If your ads do not meet our guidelines we'll notify you by email. We'll often stop running your ads until you're able to make the necessary changes. As soon as you've made and saved the changes, your ads are automatically resubmitted to us for review.

What can I do to help maintain ad quality on OhioBiz?

OhioBiz is committed to providing an optimal user experience as well as giving you the most effective online advertising possible. To do this, we need the help of both our advertisers and our users. If you're an advertiser, you can help by creating concise, informative, and well-targeted ads. Since such ads often generate the highest click-through rates (CTRs), you'll see campaign performance improvements, and our users will see useful, informative ads.

Both users and advertisers can help us by reporting any ad quality concerns to ohiobiz@ohiobiz.com. You can also notify us of fraudulent or bad-faith advertisers. OhioBiz is not responsible for advertisers' websites including, but not limited to maintenance of such web sites, order entry, payment processing, shipping, cancellations, returns, or customer service. However, we value customer service and hope that our advertisers provide quality services. If poor service is rendered by one of our advertisers, we suggest that you contact the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Affairs division of the city where the company is located, as they will be able to investigate your case and act on your behalf. Such organizations provide the most effective forum for addressing cases of consumer dissatisfaction.
