Darke County is located in west central Ohio, in the Great Miami Valley region of the state and is bordered by Shelby and Miami Counties to the east, Preble and Montgomery Counties to the south, the state of Indiana to the west, and Mercer County to the north. As of the 2020 Census, it has a population of around 51,881 people. The county seat is Greenville, which is the largest city in the county. The economy of Darke County is driven by manufacturing, with a number of major employers in the county, including Greenville Technology, Inc., LexisNexis Risk Solutions, and the Mersman Brothers Company. The county is also home to a number of small businesses and farms. Darke County is home to several parks and recreational areas, including the Shawnee Prairie Preserve, the Darke County Park District, and the Darke County Fairgrounds.
