Lawrence County, Ohio

Lawrence County is the southernmost county in Ohio, with a population of 58,240 according to the 2020 census. The county seat is Ironton, a city that was once a major center of iron production and transportation. The county was named after James Lawrence, a naval hero who uttered the famous phrase "do not give up the ship" during the War of 1812. Some of the places of interest in Lawrence County include the Hanging Rock Iron Furnace, the Ohio River Scenic Byway, and the Wayne National Forest. The largest employers in the county are King's Daughters Medical Center, Marathon Petroleum, and Liebert Corporation.
