Wooster Township was established April 11 1812 as one of the four original townships of Wayne County along with Sugarcreek Mohican and Prairie Townships. The Township was named for Revolutionary War General David Wooster. The census of Wayne County in 1810 shows 43 households of that 12 were in the city of Wooster and 12 were in Wooster Township.
