Barberton is a city in Summit County. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 25,191 people. It is located southwest of Akron and was founded in 1891 by industrialist O.C. Barber, who moved his Diamond Match Company there and created a planned community around Lake Anna. Some places of interest in Barberton include the Anna-Dean Farm, a historic estate with 35 buildings and gardens; the Lake Anna YMCA, a recreational facility with a pool and gym; and the Barberton Mum Fest, an annual festival with thousands of chrysanthemums and live entertainment. Some of the largest employers in Barberton are Babcock & Wilcox, a company that provides energy and environmental technologies; PPG Industries, a manufacturer of paints and coatings; and Summa Health System, a network of hospitals and health care providers.
