Bryan is the county seat of Williams County. It has a population of about 8,700 people and covers an area of 5.4 square miles. Bryan was founded in 1840 by John A. Bryan and named after him. Some of the places of interest in Bryan are the Williams County Courthouse, which was built in 1891, the Spangler Candy Company, which makes Dum Dums lollipops, and the Bryan Theatre, which shows movies and hosts live events. The largest employers in the city are Chase Brass and Copper Company, which produces brass rods and tubes, Titan Tire Corporation, which manufactures tires for agricultural and industrial vehicles, and Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, which provides health care services.
