Carroll County is a county located in northeastern Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,689. The county seat is Carrollton. The county was created in 1833 and named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. Carroll County is known for its scenic rural landscape and its rich history. Some of the places of interest in the county include the McCook House Civil War Museum, the Algonquin Mill Complex, the Bluebird Farm Park and the Atwood Lake Park. The largest employers in the county are Carroll County Energy, a natural gas-fired power plant; Carroll Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility; and Carrollton Exempted Village Schools, a public school district.
