Clark County is a county located in the west central portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 136,001. It was named after General George Rogers Clark, who was a leader in the American Revolutionary War and fought against Native Americans in Ohio in the early 19th century. The county seat is Springfield, and its largest city is Springfield. The county is home to several state parks and recreation areas, as well as the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The economy of Clark County is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing, with major employers including Mercy Health, Assurant, and Navistar, Inc. The county also has a strong presence in education and healthcare.
