Harrison County is a small county in east central Ohio, with a population of 14,483 as of 2020. The county seat and largest village is Cadiz, which was founded in 1803 and named after the Spanish city. Harrison County is named after William Henry Harrison, a general and the ninth president of the United States.

Some of the places of interest in Harrison County include the Clark Gable Museum, which celebrates the life and career of the famous actor who was born in Cadiz; the Harrison County Historical Society Museum, which displays artifacts and exhibits related to the county's history and culture; and the Sally Buffalo Park, which offers camping, fishing, hiking and other recreational activities.

The largest employers in Harrison County are mainly in the health care, education and manufacturing sectors. According to the Harrison County Auditor's website, some of the major employers are Harrison Community Hospital, Harrison Hills City School District, MarkWest Energy Partners, Bowerston Shale Company and Cadiz Animal Clinic.
