Highland County is a county in the southwestern part of Ohio. It has a population of 43,317 people as of 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The county seat and largest city is Hillsboro, which is located in the center of the county. Highland County is named for its hilly terrain, which separates the watersheds of the Little Miami and Scioto Rivers.
Some of the places of interest in Highland County include Rocky Fork State Park, which offers hiking trails, caves, and fishing opportunities; Fort Hill State Memorial, which preserves a prehistoric Native American earthwork; and Highland House Museum, which displays local history and artifacts. The county also hosts several annual events, such as the Festival of the Bells, the Highland County Fair, and the Greenfield Rotary Oktoberfest.
