Independence is a city in the central part of Cuyahoga County with a population of 7,133 as of 2020. It is located about 10 miles south of Cleveland and is part of the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area. Some of the places of interest in Independence include the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Independence Historical Society Museum, and the Rockside Road Shopping Center. The city also has several hotels that cater to travelers and business visitors, such as the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cleveland - Independence and the Embassy Suites by Hilton Cleveland Rockside. The largest employers in Independence are GrafTech International, a manufacturer of graphite electrodes and other carbon products; Apple Growth Partners, an accounting and business advisory firm; and Airgas, a supplier of industrial gases and related products.
