Jefferson County is a county in eastern Ohio. It has a population of 65,249 people according to the 2020 census. The county seat and largest city is Steubenville, which was named after a former fort that protected the government surveyors. The county was created in 1797 and named after Thomas Jefferson, who was the vice president at that time.

Some of the places of interest in Jefferson County are the Historic Fort Steuben, which is a reconstructed 18th-century fort and museum; the Jefferson County Historical Association Museum, which displays artifacts and exhibits related to the county's history; and the Friendship Park, which is a scenic park with trails, camping, fishing, and boating facilities.

Some of the largest employers in Jefferson County are Trinity Health System, which operates two hospitals and several clinics in the county; Jefferson County Board of Education, which oversees 13 public schools in the county; and Timet, which is a titanium producer with a plant in Toronto.
