Kent is a city in Ohio, USA, with a population of 28,215 as of 2020. It is situated along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio and is part of the Akron metropolitan area. Kent is known for being the home of Kent State University, which was founded in 1910 and has over 35,000 students. Kent State University is also the site of the infamous Kent State shootings in 1970, when four students were killed by the National Guard during a protest against the Vietnam War.

Some of the places of interest in Kent include the old Erie Depot and Star of the West mill, which are historic landmarks from the 19th century; the Franklin Hotel, which is a boutique hotel and restaurant in downtown Kent; Dix Stadium, which is the football stadium for the Kent State Golden Flashes; Theodore Roosevelt High School, which is a public high school that was established in 1914; and Kent Hall, which is the main administrative building for Kent State University. The largest employers in Kent are Kent State University, which employs over 6,000 people; Davey Tree Expert Company, which is a national tree care and landscaping company that was founded in Kent in 1880; and Robinson Memorial Hospital, which is a regional medical center that serves Portage County. Other major employers include Ametek Lamb Electric, Smithers-Oasis Company, and AlphaMicron Inc., which are all manufacturing companies that produce various products such as electric motors, floral foam, and liquid crystal devices.
