Lancaster is a city in Fairfield County and has a population of 40,552 according to the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Fairfield County and is located near the Hocking River. Lancaster was founded in 1800 by Colonel Ebenezer Zane, who named it after his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lancaster is known for its glass industry, which dates back to the 19th century.
