Noble County is a rural county with a population of about 14,000 people. Its county seat is Caldwell. Noble County is located in the heart of Southeastern Ohio, thirty minutes from Marietta and Cambridge and fewer than two and a half hours from Columbus, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The county is bisected by I-77, which connects Cleveland to southern Ohio. Thirty minutes north of the county’s center is I-70, one of the nation’s busiest interstates. The county is named for Rep. Warren P. Noble of the Ohio House of Representatives, who was an early settler there.
The county's economy is mainly based on agriculture, natural resources and manufacturing. Some of the major industries in Noble County are oil and gas production, coal mining, timber harvesting and processing, dairy farming and cheese making. The largest employers in Noble County are Antero Resources Corporation, a natural gas company; American Electric Power, a utility company; Magnum Magnetics Corporation, a manufacturer of flexible magnetic products; and Pearl Valley Cheese, a family-owned cheese factory.
