Ottawa County is located in northwest Ohio and is bordered by Lucas County and Lake Erie to the north, Lake Erie to the east, Sandusky and Erie Counties to the south, and Wood County to the west. It is named after the Ottawa Native American tribe. The county seat is Port Clinton. According to the 2020 Census, the county has a population of 40,364 people. The economy of Ottawa County is primarily centered around tourism, with a number of recreational activities available in the county's many state parks and wildlife areas. The county is also home to several small manufacturing companies. The county is known for its beautiful lakefront communities and is home to a number of popular tourist attractions, including the African Safari Wildlife Park and the Cedar Point amusement park.
