Rootstown is a township in Portage County, that was founded in 1802. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 8,602 people. Some of the places of interest in Rootstown are Beckwith Orchards, a family-owned farm that offers fresh fruits and vegetables, and the Portage Hike and Bike Trail, a scenic route that connects several communities in the county. Rootstown is also home to the Northeast Ohio Medical University, a public health sciences university that offers programs in medicine, pharmacy, and graduate studies. The largest employers in Rootstown are the university, the Rootstown Local School District, and the Rootstown Fire Department.
