Ross County is a county in the Appalachian region of the U.S. state of Ohio. It was formed on August 20, 1798 and named after James Ross, a senator from Pennsylvania. The county seat is Chillicothe, which was the first and third capital of Ohio. According to the 2020 census, the county had a population of 77,093.

Some places of interest in Ross County are the Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, which preserves several ancient earthworks built by Native Americans; the Adena State Memorial, which features a mansion built by Thomas Worthington, one of Ohio's founding fathers; and the Great Seal State Park, which offers scenic views of the hills that inspired the Great Seal of Ohio.

The largest employers in Ross County are Adena Health System, a regional health care provider; Kenworth Truck Company, a manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks; and Glatfelter, a producer of specialty papers and engineered products.
