Sandusky County is located in northwest Ohio, and is bordered by Ottawa County to the north, Erie and Huron Counties to the east, Seneca County to the south, and Wood County to the west. It is named after the Native American tribal leader, Sandusky. According to the 2020 Census, the county has a population of 58,896 people. The county seat is Fremont. The economy of Sandusky County is diverse, with manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism being the major industries. The county is home to several small manufacturing companies, and is also a major agricultural producer, with corn, soybeans, and wheat being the major crops. Sandusky County is also a popular tourist destination, with a number of interesting attractions, including the African Safari Wildlife Park and the Cedar Point amusement park. The county is known for its beautiful lakefront communities and its abundant natural resources, which make it a popular destination for outdoor recreational activities, such as boating, fishing, and birdwatching.
