Wood County is located in northwest Ohio, and is bordered by Lucas County to the north, Henry County to the west, Sandusky, Ottawa, and Seneca Counties to the east, and Hancock County to the south. It is named after Levi Wood, a county commissioner. The county seat is Bowling Green. According to the 2020 Census, the county has a population of 132,248 people. The economy of Wood County is diverse, with manufacturing, education, and healthcare being the major industries. The county is home to several small manufacturing companies, and is also home to Bowling Green State University, a major research university. Wood County is also home to a number of healthcare facilities, including Wood County Hospital. The county is known for its beautiful countryside and its many parks and recreational areas, and is a popular destination for outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, and birdwatching. The county is also home to a number of interesting historical sites and cultural attractions, including the Wood County Historical Center and the Black Swamp Arts Festival.
