Adams County is a county in the southern part of Ohio that was founded in 1797 and named after John Adams, the second President of the United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of Adams County was 27,477, and its county seat and largest village is West Union. Some of the places of interest in Adams County include the Great Serpent Mound, a prehistoric effigy mound that is a National Historic Landmark; Blake's Soda Fountain, a nostalgic diner that serves ice cream and sandwiches; and the Wheat Ridge Community, an Amish settlement that offers handmade crafts and goods. Some of the largest employers in Adams County are General Electric, which operates a jet engine testing facility; Adams County Regional Medical Center, which provides health care services; and Venture Productions, which offers vocational training and employment for people with disabilities.
