Butler County is a county located in the southwestern part of Ohio. It is named for Richard Butler of Pennsylvania, a major general in the American Revolutionary War. The county seat is Hamilton, where the first fort was built on the bank of the Great Miami River. The county is home to a number of recreational and historical sites, including the Great Miami River, the regionally popular Caesar Creek State Park, and the historic town of Oxford. The county also boasts a thriving business environment, with a number of industrial parks, manufacturing hubs, and technology centers. The Butler County Economic Development Office is committed to business development and retention. The county is served by the Butler County Transit Authority, which provides public transportation throughout the county. Oxford is home to Miami University.
