Champaign County is located in west-central Ohio and is part of the Dayton metropolitan area. The county seat is Urbana, which is also the largest city in the county. Champaign County was founded in 1805 and was named after the champagne-like soil found in the area. The county has a population of around 40,000 people and is known for its agriculture and manufacturing industries. Some of the crops grown in the county include corn, wheat, and soybeans. The county is also home to a number of factories and small businesses, including retail stores and restaurants. There are several parks and recreational areas in the county, including the Champaign County Fairgrounds and the Urbana Country Club. The county is home to a number of schools, including Urbana University and the Champaign County Joint Vocational School.
