Lorain County is located in northeastern Ohio, bordered by Lake Erie to the north, Cuyahoga County to the east, Medina and Ashland Counties to the south, and Erie and Huron Counties to the west. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 312,964. The county seat is Elyria. The county has a total area of approximately 444 square miles. The county is home to several small towns and villages, including Amherst, Avon, Elyria, Lorain, and North Ridgeville. The county is predominantly rural, with agriculture and manufacturing being the main industries. Lorain County is home to several state and local parks, including the Lorain County Metro Parks, the Lorain County Fairgrounds, and the Mill Hollow Campground. The county is also home to Lorain County Community College and the Lorain County JVS.
