Pike County is a county located in the southeastern part of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,772. The county seat is Waverly. The county was named for explorer Zebulon Pike, who led an expedition to the Southwest and Colorado in 1806.
Some of the places of interest in Pike County include the Pike Lake State Park, which offers camping, hiking, fishing and boating; the Lake White State Park, which features a 337-acre lake and a historic dam; and the Brush Creek State Forest, which covers over 12,000 acres of wooded hills and valleys.
The largest employers in Pike County are the Pike County Board of Education, which operates 11 schools and employs over 600 people; the Adena Health System, which provides health care services to the county and surrounding areas; and the Atomic Credit Union, which is a member-owned financial cooperative with over 70,000 members and 14 branches.
