Preble County is located in the west central part of the state, and its county seat is Eaton. It is bordered by Montgomery County to the east, Butler County to the south, the state of Indiana to the west, and Darke County to the north. The county was named after Commodore Edward Preble, a naval officer who served during the American Revolution. As of the 2020 Census, Preble County has a population of 40,999 people. The economy of the county is diverse, with a mix of agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries. The county is home to a number of parks and recreational areas, including the Hueston Woods State Park and the Germantown MetroPark. The county is also home to several colleges and universities, including Sinclair Community College.
